Your Local Inkster Cleanout and Yard Crew

About 14 miles southwest of Detroit, Inkster is a Wayne County city whose footprint in Black American history and in Motown far exceeds its size. Robert Inkster, a Scottish sawmill operator, gave the place its name. The community filled out through the 1920s and 1930s when African Americans working in Henry Ford's Dearborn factories settled here, because Dearborn itself would not let them live there. Non-Indigenous settlement dates to 1825, and a post office called 'Moulin Rouge' opened in December 1857 before taking the Inkster name in July 1863.

The Malcolm X home stands at 4336 Williams Street and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Booker T. Dozier Recreation Complex is at 2025 Middlebelt Road. On the music side, the Marvelettes came together here in 1960 and gave Motown its first successful all-female act, and their 1961 debut, 'Please Mr. Postman,' gave the label its first number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Other people with Inkster ties include U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan, Inkster High class of 1969, and NFL running back Tyrone Wheatley. The city works today mainly as a residential Detroit-area suburb inside Wayne County. For Inkster property owners, K&R covers hauling, cleanouts, mowing, snow clearing and storm cleanup for homes and businesses alike.
