K&R Year Round Services in Allen Park

Allen Park is Downriver Wayne County, about 12 miles southwest of downtown Detroit, and you can find it from the freeway: the 80-foot Uniroyal Giant Tire stands over I-94. Lewis Allen, a lawyer and lumberman, gave the city its name. It grew with the auto industry, passing 37,000 residents by mid-century before settling at 28,638 in the 2020 census, and it made national news when a failed movie-studio deal pushed the city into a state financial emergency.

The Detroit Lions run their headquarters and practice complex here, the Meijer Performance Center. Fairlane Green is the large open-air shopping center. Money Magazine has listed the city among America's best small cities.

That giant tire began as a 96-passenger Ferris wheel at the 1964 New York World's Fair, designed by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon, the same firm behind the Empire State Building, and it was shipped in on 22 trucks and reassembled here in 1966. The Lions have been based in the city since 2002 at the roughly 225,000-square-foot Meijer Performance Center, which houses football operations. Out in Allen Park, the team handles hauling, cleanouts, mowing, snow clearing and storm cleanup for homes and businesses alike.
